Farewell, David Archuleta!

David Archuleta has embarked on a new adventure. For the next two years, he will be taking a break from his career, his loved ones, and the life he knew to serve as a Mormon missionary in South America. In his final video blog, the sweet and spiritual singer profusely thanks his supporters for their unyielding support over the past few years.

Four years ago, my mom told me about a talented teenager she discovered on a show called American Idol. I honestly don't know where I'd be or who I'd be today if she hadn't introduced me to David Archuleta. The singers of Season 7 had (and continue to have) an incredible impact on my life, and I can never thank them enough for that.

I admire David for always being a fine example of what it means to be giving, compassionate, and courageous. I draw great inspiration from his philosophies of appreciating the goodness around you and following your heart. David Archuleta devotes his life to making a difference. He has already touched the hearts of his fans through his music and his personality. Now it's time for him to begin changing the world on an even larger scale. May he continue to spread peace, love, and hope everywhere he goes.

It's Not Goodbye... It's See You in Two Years.

As a parting gift, David recorded an OPM album of classic Filipino love songs during his brief stay in the Philippines. Purchase 'Forevermore' today!

The music video intertwines footage of the recording session of the song with clips from the show's episodes.

David Archuleta Departs Jive Records, Decides To Follow His Heart Instead

As many of you familiar with David Archuleta know by now, he is no longer with Jive Records and WEG Management. However, due to the open communication fostered by social networking sites such as Twitter, misinformation was spread throughout the media regarding the nature of his departure from the two companies. The headlines read that the American Idol runner-up was "dropped by his label", when in fact, it was the other way around, according to David Archuleta's latest video blog.

In the eight-minute long vlog (brevity is not exactly a strong suit of this ramblin' man), Archuleta clears up the cloud of confusion surrounding the state of his music career by confirming that it was his final decision to part ways with Jive and WEG.

He explains that Jive Records has been changing as a company, with regards to the departure of Sony's president and Archuleta's own A&R representative, and with the ongoing mission of the label. Just as Jive is transforming as a business, Archuleta also feels that his artistic direction has shifted as well, and that their visions are no longer compatible with one another.

"There are offers to continue working [with Jive] but it just didn't feel like the right thing now... it just felt I need to start going a different direction now. It just felt like the right time to part ways."

The main point to derive out of Archuleta's exit from both companies is that a continuation of those professional relationship would not be productive to where he's supposed to go, what he wants to be doing, and what he wants to be focusing on.

"Only recently I've learned... It's an obvious thing, but it took me a while to realize, I have control over my life. The decisions I make are what's gonna make or break, not just necessarily my career, but my life too. So I'm just excited where to go, the change, the direction that I'm hoping to go now with music."

Despite this time of uncertainty, the always optimistic and mature Archuleta remains confident with his newfound independence and freedom, expressing great enthusiasm for the future and anticipation for his next journey: developing as a person and as a musician through some soul-searching and song-writing. And, as Archuleta concludes his vlog, what he is most grateful for is his steady relationship with his ever-so supportive fanbase for encouraging him to continue following his heart and going after his dreams.

"This relationship with music, you guys... It's the relationship with you guys that's most important."

David Archuleta's Unreleased Track "Senseless"

David Archuleta, the newly-turned twenty year-old musical mastermind behind the refreshing quirky and uplifting sophomore album "The Other Side of Down", has a New Year's treat in store for his devoted legion of fans in the form of an unreleased song!

"Senseless" is a slow and smooth R&B jam produced by Oak and the Underdogs and written/previously recorded by James Fauntleroy (known for his writing collaborations with Rihanna, Ciara and Jordin Sparks). Archuleta's version was presumably recorded for his self-titled debut record (released in 2008).

While I personally prefer Archuleta's songs with a more acoustic vibe ("Works For Me", "Somebody Out There", "My Kind of Perfect"), what I admire most about this young singer is his tremendous vocal range. Through "Senseless", a song about the unbearable anguish of heartbreak, Archuleta sings through the subject's pain with believable passion, demonstrating once again that he is capable of connecting with a vast range of human emotions.

What are your thoughts on "Senseless"? Should the song have been added to the final tracklisting? Or was it rightfully left behind on the cutting board?

Red Carpet Superstars: the Glee Gang and an Idol Favourite

Here are some of my favourite red-carpet looks from select star-studded Hollywood events over the past month...

Daring style chameleon Lea Michele goes global glam in this stunning asymmetrical taupe and metallic gold leaf print chiffon cocktail dress from the Reem Acra Resort 2011 collection.

Being a man of unique personal style (bow ties and suspenders, anyone?), the ever so hip, cool and geek-chic Kevin McHale opts to complement his trademark dark-rimmed glasses and Jimmy Neutron-esque hair with a royal purple checkered shirt and matching silk tie.

Naya Rivera is sweet and feminine in this vintage gray fern-printed A-line dress inspired by the 1950s retro look, proving that there are many different sides to Glee's resident bad girl.

Clad in a simple outfit consisting of jeans and a gray blazer fitted over plain white v-neck tee, the youthful and fresh-faced David Archuleta is the picturesque vision of boy-next-door charm with his classic, casual style.

David Archuleta's "Something 'Bout Love" Music Video Premiere!

This new video from pop prince David Archuleta is a departure from past themes of puppy love and relationship angst, focusing instead on a universal message of compassion which the young artist strives to share through his music. Directed by Declan Whitebloom, with Archuleta playing the role of the video's singing narrator, "Something 'Bout Love" observes various scenarios of love and kindness among people from all walks of life, and commences in an illuminating dance party.

Archuleta dedicates "Something 'Bout Love" to those who are feeling a little down, alone and frustrated with love (and life in general). Even with all of the trials and tribulations involved, "there's something about [love and life] you shouldn't give up on." This single reflects a positive, refined and mature approach to the young sage's sophomore effort, no doubt creating a lasting impression with his audience of devoted fans.

Your day will come. The past is gone.
So take your time. Live and let live.

David Archuleta Has The Piano Keys To My Heart

This is David Archuleta, lovable runner-up of American Idol Season 7, Jive recording artist and international humanitarian. The young singing sensation visited American Idol on April 7th to reprise his mesmerizing rendition of John Lennon's "Imagine". It fills me with so much love and pride to see him living out his dream - inspiring others through music.
